Kevin Reed assists various hospitals and health care systems with issues of regulatory compliance, complex business transactions, and medical staff peer review matters. Kevin is Board Certified in both Health Law and Administrative Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. His wide-ranging experience in the health care sector include representing numerous hospitals through sales or acquisitions, forming new hospital districts, purchasing or leasing new facilities and medical offices, and drafting and implementing medical staff bylaws. He also works with hospitals and physicians on various aspects of peer review hearings and credentialing processes. For over 30 years, he has served as General Counsel for the Texas Organization of Rural & Community Hospitals (TORCH), assisting its member hospitals with virtually every aspect of their operations.

Career

Represented numerous hospitals in all transactional aspects of sale or lease to other hospital systems; represented numerous hospitals and hospital districts in the financing and construction of new hospital facilities; represented numerous communities in the formation of a new hospital district and/or hospital authorities; represented numerous hospitals in their acquisition or lease of various healthcare facilities; represented large multi-specialty physician practice in physician contracts, employment, non-compete, and strategic planning matters; represented single facility and multi-facility hospital systems in drafting and implementing medical staff bylaws; served as mediator and/or hearing officer in over 50 medical staff peer review hearings, and represented numerous hospital clients in various aspects of the fair hearing and physician credentialing processes; provides general counsel services, including negotiating and drafting contracts, advising on regulatory matters, medical staff matters, and other operational matters. Kevin is one of the only lawyers in Texas selected as a Super Lawyer each year for over 20 consecutive years out of over 110,000 Texas lawyers.
