Personal
Laura joined Dumont in 2000, when she was hired to spearhead the launch of the firm’s litigation department. In 2008 she was named Managing Partner and has since helped to fully digitize the firm’s systems and improve efficiencies and capabilities to better meet clients’ needs. She has more than 30 years of experience in Intellectual Property and was Deputy Director of Unfair Competition Prevention at the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI).
Laura’s broad expertise enables her to work on an array of IP matters. She advises clients on how to enhance protection of their trademark portfolios and helps to plan both patent and trademark litigation strategies. She is the main contact with the firm’s clients and oversees all teams to deliver quality IP legal services.
As Managing Partner, Laura has modernized Dumont’s image, as well as developed the depth of certain practice areas further to achieve complete client satisfaction. She has recruited lawyers and engineering leaders in the field to support and enhance her team and to provide legal services related to IP, such as regulatory, corporate, IT, data protection, and valuation of IP assets. She also successfully implemented the complete digitalization of Dumont’s archives and can render a paperless service if clients so wish.
Under Laura’s supervision, Dumont achieved ISO 9001:2015 certification (by TUV Rheinland®) for having a quality management system. Dumont is the first IP firm in Mexico that has been certified in all areas.
Her practice includes the complete life cycle of Intellectual Property rights, from consultancy to application, to resolving disputes involving these rights.
