Career
Lisa has more than three decades of experience in the construction industry. Prior to becoming a lawyer, she worked for several years in project management and engineering for Turner Construction Company holding various field and office positions. During that time, Lisa completed millions of dollars worth of work-in-place for the core-and-shell and tenant improvement divisions in the following sectors: hospitals and other healthcare facilities, laboratories, retail space, office towers, high-rise residential, and light industrial.
Lisa's construction field experience provides her with a deeper perspective and understanding of the construction process making her invaluable in assisting our construction clients' legal and business needs. The primary focus of her transactional practice is advising owners, designers, contractors or project teams regarding multi-million dollar design and construction deal structures utilizing collaborative and integrated delivery processes, and drafting bid documents, contracts, and BIM protocols for large private and public works, including contract documents for public-private partnerships (P3). Lisa is experienced with public procurement processes, HUD guidelines and protocols, and has international contract experience. On the claims side, she advises clients regarding resolution of a variety of legal issues including contract disputes, claims and delay analysis, termination, default, mechanic liens and stop payment notice claims, defects and alternative dispute resolution. Lisa has a reputation for successfully working with clients to resolve claims and conflicts as they arise through business and legal negotiations avoiding litigation.
Lisa developed California Women in Design + Construction™ (CWDC), an organization of professional women in the design and construction industry that hosts forums to discuss relevant topics and to provide networking opportunities.

Work Highlights
Successful defense of a development company against construction-related claims for additional compensation by design-builder in excess of $10MM related to the design and construction of two assisted living facilities in Northern California (with a collective project value in excess of $50MM)
Palomar Pomerado Hospital. Palomar Pomerado Hospital is a 750,000 s.f., $956 million dollar medical center in San Diego County. I worked closely with the project team in development of the construction contracts and specialty purchase orders for the hospital, which was delivered using a construction manager with multi-primes. The project was completed during the summer of 2012 and was recently recognized by the major trade journal Engineering News Record. The project was completed ahead of schedule and is one of the largest buildings in the United States to use integrated project delivery principles. (See, ENR's February 11, 2013 issue, page 27).
Sutter Health, California Pacific Medical Center. Hanson Bridgett is legal counsel to Sutter Health regarding development of its medical facilities. I am one of the lead attorneys in development of Sutter’s new standard design and construction form agreements and provide legal services to the WestBay Region.
