Career
Partner at SAI Derecho & Economía since October 2002, she previously performed as an associate lawyer since 1998. She served as legal counsel to the Mexican government and Technical Secretary to the negotiating team on investment during the NAFTA negotiations. She also provided legal counsel during the negotiations for trade agreements with Colombia and Venezuela (G3); Costa Rica; and Bolivia. Likewise, she participated in Mexico´s proceedings to join the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
She earned her Law Degree at the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM), with honorific mention and has lectured there and at the Tecnológico de Monterrey, the Universidad Panamericana and the Universidad Iberoamericana, where she has taught competition and investment arbitration courses. Furthermore, since 2010, she lectures on economic competition at the Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas. She has published several analytical and opinion articles on these and other subjects of her specialty –such as investor-State arbitration. She is also a frequent contributor to opinion pieces on the International Law Office, the American Bar Association’s webpages, and printed publications.
Her active involvement with the Asociación Nacional de Abogados de Empresa (ANADE, National Association of Enterprise Lawyers) led her to be elected Chair of the Competition Committee for the 2005-2006 and 2007-2008 biennium, Coordinator of Committees from 2009 to 2010, and Second Vice-president between 2011 and 2012, as well as Vocal of the Board for the 2017-2018 biennium.
Among her activities, she has organized and lectured several update seminars with governmental and academic institutions such as the Federal Economic Competition Commission, the Facilitation Project for the Free Trade Agreement between Mexico and the European Union, the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México, the Tecnológico de Monterrey and the Universidad Panamericana.
She is a member of the Economic Competition Commission of the International Chamber of Commerce, the US-Mexico Bar Association and the American Bar Association. She is also a member of the Consultative Council of the Federal Telecommunications Institute for the period 2018-2019.
