Maarten Mussche

Practice Areas

Maarten Mussche specialises in company and procedural law. His broad litigation experience includes cases involving business contracts, acquisition-related disputes, shareholder conflicts and directors’ and officers’ liability, as well as the liability of supervisory authorities. Maarten counsels companies, shareholders, and directors and officers in cases involving conflicts, or imminent conflicts, relating to decision-making and delegation of authority. He regularly represents clients in inquiry proceedings before the Enterprise Division.

Maarten earned his PhD in directors’ and officers’ liability based on his thesis entitled ‘Vertrouwen op informatie bij bestuurlijke taakvervulling’[Reliance on Information in Fulfilling Management Duties] (Kluwer, 2011). He has served as an editor of the monthly academic journal Maandblad voor Ondernemingsrecht since its inception in 2015. Maarten also served as the editor-in-chief of the company law guide entitled Q&A Ondernemingsrecht (Boom juridisch 2020).
