Maria “Marisa” Casablanca is Chair of Akerman’s Immigration Planning and Compliance Practice. With more than three decades of experience in U.S. Immigration and Nationality Law, Marisa represents corporate clients and individuals in obtaining immigration assistance and benefits. She is Board Certified in Immigration and Nationality Law by The Florida Bar, and was a member of The Florida Bar’s Certification Committee for Immigration and Nationality Law and the Florida Bar Unlicensed Practice of Law Committee (11D). She has also served on national liaison committees with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and the Department of State. Clients seek Marisa’s reliable counsel on the full spectrum of immigration issues, including obtaining employment visas, investment and business-related visas, residency for foreign nationals, and representing family members of permanent residents and U.S. citizens. She has developed significant experience in employment worksite compliance through liaison with USCIS, ICE, and the Immigrant and Employee Rights Section in the Department of Justice.
