María de Los Ángeles is a specialized lawyer in Intellectual Property and Competition Law. She leads the Intellectual Property department and co-leads the Competition Law and Life & Science departments at AVL.
María de Los Ángeles has provided advice and strategic design for protection of intangible assets or intellectual property rights to national and international companies. She has experience advising on trademark, patent, copyrights, new plants varieties and innovation protection in Ecuador and in other jurisdictions.
In Competition Law, María de Los Ángeles has extensive experience on the prevention and detection of anti-competitive behavior, as well as in the defense of the companies' interests before the competent authorities in Ecuador. She has advised associations through different investigation procedures initiated by the competition authority obtaining positive outcomes. She has also developed successful preventive and compliance programs in accordance with Ecuadorian and Andean regulations.
María de Los Ángeles is a professor of Intellectual Property Law at Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ). Also, she was a lecturer of Unfair Competition, Intellectual Property, and Copyright at Universidad Internacional del Ecuador (UIDE).
She is a member of the International Trademark Association and the Interamerican Intellectual Property Association (IIPA).
