As a partner at Hertoghs Advocaten, Mariëlle is a defence specialist in white-collar-crime cases. Her clients include multinationals, corporates, directors and high net worth individuals suspected of tax or financial fraud, money laundering, corruption, forgery, embezzlement and breach of sanctions. Mariëlle works mainly on cross-border investigations and has an excellent track record in (geo)political sensitive cases.

Mariëlle is a socially skilled professional. She is a strong litigator and tactical negotiator. Her approach is proactive and creative in order to achieve the best possible results fitted to her clients’ needs and interests.

Career

Mariëlle studied criminal law and International and European Law at Utrecht University. She has experience at various recommended firms in the Netherlands and worked as a paralegal in capital defence cases in Houston, Texas (US). She successfully completed the postmaster specialisation courses for criminal defence counsels and tax lawyers at Utrecht University and Leiden University. Mariëlle is frequently asked to participate in expert panels and publishes on white-collar crime topics.

Mariëlle is a (former) board member of the Dutch Association of Tax Lawyers (NVAB), the Dutch Association of Criminal Defence Lawyers (NVSA) and the International Bar Association (IBA).
