Martin is a solicitor in the clinical negligence department at Lanyon Bowdler. He has substantial experience of a range of cases including brain, spine or birth injury, as well as fatal cases.

Career

Martin qualified in 2008 and was previously deputy head of clinical negligence at a north west firm. He has acted on numerous £multi-million cases involving either lump sum-only settlements or periodical payment orders. He has taken several cases to trial in the High Court with success, including the maternity consent case of SXX v Liverpool Women's NHS Foundation Trust [2015] EWHC 4072.

Martin joined Lanyon Bowdler in 2023. He was also appointed as a fee paid First Tier Tribunal Judge in 2023, sitting in the Special Educational Needs jurisdiction of the Health, Education and Social Care Chamber.

Professional Memberships

Martin has been a Law Society Clinical Negligence Panel member since 2014. He was Chief Assessor of the Panel from 2015-2018 and led a major review of the scheme in 2016.

In his spare time Martin enjoys golf, suffers Manchester Utd, reads books on history and politics, and dabbles in furniture restoration and other DIY.
