Mattias Malmstedt is top ranked in Legal500 as leading individual and selected as one of very few in Hall of fame in IP law in Sweden. To be considered eligible for the Hall of Fame lawyers must be widely regarded as being at the very top of the profession, and to have been consistently ranked as leading individuals by The Legal 500 for a number of years. Mattias has been ranked as leading individual in Sweden over a decade.

Malmstedt has been involved in many complex high stake litigations and disputes concerning patent, copyright, design and trademarks representing among many others Seiko Epson, Tetra Pak, Sandoz, Edwards, Bosch Siemens, Nexam and Teva.

Malmstedt is also ranked in Chambers Global, Chambers Europe, IAM300, IAM1000, WTR and selected as IP Star in MIP. Mattias was awarded recognition by IAM300 for being a global leader and among the worlds leading IP strategists (2021).

Malmstedt has litigated land mark cases concerning patents, copyright, design, trademarks and trade secrets. He is one of the most experienced in Pharma patent litigations in Sweden, representing among others STADA and Teva.

He is author of several different academic publications among others the Swedish chapter in ”Design Rights – Functionality and Scope of Protection” (Wolters Kluwer, 2022, 2nd ed.).

Moreover Malmstedt deals with a variety of complex commercial contracts including licensing, R&D, technology transfer agreements.

Malmstedt is a Member of the Swedish Bar Association and has acted as barrister in Supreme Court, Patent and Marketing Court of Appeal and several other courts and arbitrations.
