Career
A founding partner of LALIVE, now Senior Counsel. Practised in international arbitration for over 40 years as counsel in ad hoc proceedings and under various rules (ICC, ICSID, LCIA, Swiss Rules, Stockholm Institute, CRCICA, DIAC, European Development Fund, UNCITRAL), and before other international bodies (WTO Appellate Body and the UNCC). Arbitrator (chair, sole or co-arbitrator) under the rules of many institutions both in Switzerland and abroad.
Professional Memberships
Honorary President of ASA. Vice-Chair of ICC Commission on Arbitration (until 2014); member of several working groups (1998, 2012 revisions of ICC Arbitration Rules, construction, pre-arbitral referee). Past chairman of UNCITRAL Working Group II, New York and Vienna sessions (2006-2010) on the revision of Arbitration Rules and Notes on Organizing Arbitral Proceedings (2014-2015); past Vice-Chair of the Commission. Board of Trustees of the CRCICA and of the Court of Arbitration of the Singapore Arbitration Centre, past President of the IACL.
