Niccolò Ferretti, who is a Founding Partner of NUNZIANTE MAGRONE, focuses his practice on providing counsel to both national and international companies on a wide range of Intellectual Property and Advertising Law issues.

He is particularly noted for his work in the field of IP Litigation (patents, trademarks, design, trade secrets and unfair competition issues).

Niccolò is very well versed in providing advice to clients, including SME’s, operating in the fashion, luxury, design and furniture, food, automotive, mechanical, electronic, life science, pharmaceutical and biomedical sectors.

He is regularly engaged by both public and private bodies to provide training to their in-house professionals on a range of IP issues – such as counterfeiting and trademark protection.

Of particular note, Niccolò Ferretti is currently a permanent member of the Patent Committee of the European Community Trademark Association (ECTA).

Personal

For a number of years, including today, Niccolò has been deeply involved in the EUIPO Stakeholder Quality Assurance Panels (SQAP), which requires checking the quality of the decisions issued by the EUIPO regarding cancellation proceedings related to design – as well as opposition proceedings related to trademarks.

He is also regularly invited to be a speaker at conferences and seminars in Italy and abroad by national and international professional associations, universities, as well as by public and private entities.

Work Highlights

• Niccolò has represented a company operating in the Life Sciences sector in a complex matter that had never been seen before in the Italian court system. The judge agreed with the arguments made on behalf of the client and hence a new legal precedent for patent holders in Italy was created.

• Niccolò has been appointed by an internationally recognised brand in the luxury sector to act as their sole representative before the Italian Customs

• Niccolò is currently providing counsel on the enforcement and protection of their Intellectual Property Rights, especially trademarks – both in Italy and in the European Union - to a number of internationally recognised business entities.
