Patrick's team stands for client-oriented, legally sound, innovative and market-oriented advice in debt capital markets and supervisory laws. The product focus of the team is on bonds, structured products & derivatives, repackagings and synthetic risk transfers.
Debt: The team advises clients on bond issues and issuance programs of all kinds. A main focus of the team relates to bank hybrid and MREL capital, too. The team is constant adviser of liability management transactions.
Structured Products & Derivatives, structured finance: Patrick’s team stands out when it comes to complex structured products work. They focus on EU-wide transactions. The team advises a significant number of major leaders in EU-wide institutional but also retail-structured products and OTC derivatives markets and all related legal issues and developments. They work for clients on regulation issues of the derivatives markets, the testing of key derivatives principles, and the clearing of financial products through central counterparties. A further particular strength of the team is on synthetic risk transfers by way of total return swaps, credit derivatives or financial guarantees.
Regulatory offerings: The team provides clients with constant transaction-based advice with respect to general prudential regulation and licensing aspects, own funds requirements under the CRR, risk mitigation techniques, and recovery and resolution considerations in the context of bail-in tools. Moreover, the team serves clients in ESG compliance and ESG products, new digital concepts and technologies, electronic securities, benchmark regulation and benchmark transitions, payment services, and outsourcing. They have a significant exposure in the market on market infrastructure, derivatives, and central clearing projects. Patrick is appointed by banking and market associations to assist in the development of new standards for the derivatives and capital markets.
