Paul has over 25 years’ experience, with particular expertise in murder, manslaughter and all aspects of serious and organised crime. Paul has recently worked on a number of high profile inquiries and inquests. Paul is an expert in advising clients pre-charge and has an exceptional track record of preventing charges from being bought. Paul was instructed in one of the Hillsborough trials and in IICSA.

Career

Paul became the Senior Partner of Edward Fail, Bradshaw & Waterson in 2018, having been Managing Partner for 10 years. He has worked at the firm for 30 years.

Paul was appointed by the Lord Chancellor as a member of the Criminal Procedure Rules Committee from 2011 to 2019 which is chaired by the Lord Chief Justice. Paul was awarded a Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year award from the Legal Aid Practitioners’ Group in 2015 for his tireless work, along with others, to campaign against legal aid reforms and cuts. He is a former president of the London Criminal Courts Solicitors’ Association, and was made an honorary life member as an acknowledgement of the huge contributions he has made on behalf of the profession.
