Practice Areas

Paul McQueen practises as General Counsel and is a partner in Lavan’s Planning & Environment team. Paul is admitted to practise as a barrister and solicitor in both the Supreme Court of Western Australia and the High Court of Australia. Paul has been in specialist legal practice for over 25 years and is a recognised leader in the areas of town planning, environmental and land compensation law. The nature of Paul’s practice involves providing both court representation and strategic advice concerning the acquisition and development of land in a WA context. Paul advises on all aspects of the approval and implementation of development and subdivision proposals, conducts compensation claims, planning and environmental appeals to the State Administrative Tribunal and provides strategic advice and representation in Supreme Court and Federal Court Judicial Review proceedings related to planning and environmental matters. In addition, Paul accepts instructions as counsel in Construction and Property litigation. Since 1996, Paul has been providing advice to Western Australian State Government on environmental legislation.
