Practice Areas

R. Patrick Bedell advises insurance carriers on a variety of complex matters and represents them in commercial disputes in state and federal courts across the country. He has extensive experience analyzing and litigating claims involving products liability, municipal liability, general commercial liability and professional liability. As a member of the firm’s Opioid Coverage Task Force, Patrick is actively engaged in analyzing all insurance aspects of thousands of opioid-related suits against manufacturers, distributors, and retailers.

He counsels his insurer clients on their exposures across a variety of insurance forms, including domestic commercial general liability policies and the unique issues and defenses under the Bermuda Form. Patrick’s practice also focuses on litigating reinsurance claims on behalf of clients.

Career

From early on in his career, Patrick has represented domestic, London, and Bermuda-based insurer clients by providing advice and analysis across a wide variety of insurance claims and protecting their interests in complex insurance coverage disputes. He is licensed to practice in Illinois and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
