Practice Areas
Ralf Hackbarth is active at an international level and with special expertise in the areas of trademark law, design patent law and unfair competition law. He provides comprehensive legal advice to German and international clients on the protection of intellectual property. He is member of the German board of AIPPI, the standing Committee of AIPPI, the Design Committee of ECTA and the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (GRUR). One special focus of his activities is the enforcement trademarks and design rights before the German courts. He is a long-standing lecturer at the German bar association (Deutscher Anwaltverein – DAV), the FORUM management institute and some lawyers’ associations.
Career
1994: Admission to the bar
1983 - 1986: Studies at the Universities of Hamburg and Freiburg
1989 - 1992: Research assistant at the Universities of Constance (under Professor Fezer) and Cologne (under Professor Wiedemann)
1992 - 1993: Guest lecturer, University College, London
1993: Doctor of Law with doctorate on fundamental issues on the obligation to apply community trademark law, awarded second prize by the German Brands' Association.
