Ravindra Bandhakavi has more than 20 years of experience and is part of the general corporate practice group with a focus on M&A and private equity transactions. He has worked with and advised leading private equity/financial sponsor clients including CDPQ, Goldman Sachs, Blackstone, Everstone, GIC, Macquarie and Fidelity. He has also worked extensively with multi-lateral agencies like International Finance Corporation, Asian Development Bank, Proparco, DEG, and BII on their equity investments in India and rest of South Asia. He is actively involved with investors looking at early stage to late stage investments as well as M&A transactions across various sectors including renewables, infratructure, financial services, e-commerce, real estate and manufacturing.
Relevant Experience:
• Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ) in relation to their investments in Piramal Enterprises Limited, ECL Finance Limited (a wholly owned subsidiary of Edelweiss Financial Services Limited), 91 Streets Media Technologies Private Limited (Pharmeasy, an Indian pharmaceutical company), Apraava Energy Private Limited (earlier CLP India), Azure Power (an Indian solar company)
• CDPQ in their acquisition of Shree Jagannath Expressways (Indian highway infrastructure company) and on their successful bid for the eastern peripheral expressway (EPE) project in Delhi-NCR through the toll-operate-transfer route
• International Finance Corporation (IFC) in their equity investment in over 25 companies including in relation to their investments in Crystalcrop (an Indian agrochemical company), Deepak Fertilizers (an Indian fertilizer company), Federal Bank (an Indian listed bank), Zenex Animal Health India (animal healthcare), Mahindra’s EV business, Tabreed Asia Central Cooling Company (a Singapore JV between IFC and Tabreed UAE), Parag Milk Foods (an Indian listed dairy company), Dodla Dairy (a Indian listed dairy company), Mahyco International (a Singapore based agro-fertilizer company), Smartchem Technologies (an Indian speciality chemicals company), Nepal Water & Energy Development Company (a hydro-projects company in Nepal) and Signature Global (an Indian affordable housing company)
• GIC of Singapore in relation to their investment in Bharti Airtel
• Goldman Sachs in relation to its equity investment in an Insurance Dekho (an insurance broking business in India) and Pepperfry (an online marketplace for furniture and home decor)
• British International Investment (formerly CDC) on its equity investment in Mahindra’s (one of India’s leading conglomerates) EV business and proposed investment in a EV battery recycling company
• Warburg Pincus in relation to structured exit from Metropolis Healthcare Limited, investment in Amtek India Limited and exit from Max India Limited
• Asian Development Bank in its equity investment in Zenex Animal Health India (an Indian animal healthcare company), Shubham Housing Development Finance (an Indian housing finance company) and secondary exit from Hippocampus Learning Centres (an Indian online education company)
• Proparco on its equity investment into Annapurna Microfinance (an Indian microfinance company), Sonata Finance (an Indian finance company) and Educomp Solutions (an Indian education company)
• National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) on its joint venture partnership with Roadis for creation of a platform for investment into road projects in India
• Multiples in relation to its equity investment in Kogta Financial (NBFC) and Licious (an Indian food delivery company)
• Everstone Private Equity on their investment in Calibre and Calimara Chemicals Ltd
