Rob is an asset finance lawyer specialising in leasing, structured and project financing with respect of ships and offshore oil and gas assets.
Rob acts for leading banks, investment banks, private equity and investment funds, owners and operators and commodity traders investing in a broad range of shipping and offshore transactions, including structured financings, acquisition of secondary debt loan portfolios, large and complex restructurings, M&A transactions and joint ventures.
A widely recognised practitioner with more than two decades of experience, Rob has led from the buy side in most of the large non-performing shipping loan portfolio transactions in the market over the past decade. In giving the Shipping Loan Portfolio Adviser of the Year award to Reed Smith at the Global Transport Finance Awards in 2019, the judges described Rob as “best in the business, hands down”.
Rob also advises clients in relation to vessel / fleet acquisition and disposals, as well as construction of new building vessels and offshore assets.
He is part of Reed Smith’s Global Leadership Team and previously chair of the firm’s globally recognized Transportation Industry Group.
