Practice Areas
Salise Dourmoush, Senior Associate, has over 12 years’ experience in the legal field and 8 years as a specialist SEN solicitor.
Salise acts for clients who are the beginning of the process seeking an application for an education and health care needs assessment, SEND and EHCP tribunals, refusal to assess appeals, refusal to issue appeals and appeals against section B, F and I of education and health care plans, including dealing with issues of health and social care and education otherwise than at home (‘EOTAS’). Salise has successfully represented many clients seeking a residential placement when they have been in need of a ‘waking day curriculum.’
Salise also regularly engages in Pre-Action correspondence against Local Authorities in London and across England threatening Judicial Review proceedings against failures to comply with statutory deadlines, failures to provide suitable education and put into place education listed in an education and health care plan, including facilitating attendance at named school placements. Salise also assists clients with claims of disability discrimination.
Salise’s main aim is to always negotiate a settlement for her clients but is prepared to bring matters to Tribunal and Court and robustly represent her clients where necessary.
Salise has previously worked on behalf of parents at a leading Appellant City Law Firm and on behalf of local authorities as their in-house SEN and Education Lead. This has provided her with 3-dimensional understanding of the field and an enhanced approach to her practice. Salise uses this experience to assist children and young people with SEN to achieve their best possible outcomes in their education and future lives. During her career, Salise has developed a jargon-free, practical, and collaborative approach, to try and achieve the best results for her clients as quickly and as cost-effectively as possible.
Salise is an experienced advocate and holds many training sessions for those wanting to learn about SEND tribunal processes and final hearings. She is also a member of the Education Law Association.
Salise can also speak fluent Turkish.
