Sameer Jain, Founder and Managing Partner, PSL Advocates & Solicitors, leads the firm’s Dispute Resolution practice, specializing in Domestic and International Commercial Arbitration as well as Corporate and Commercial Litigation. Sameer is also a Registered Foreign Lawyer with the Singapore International Commercial Court.

Sameer currently leads an array of matters involving intricate and complex legal issues across diverse sectors, including retail, oil and gas, power, defense and automotive on international sale of goods, shareholder disputes, corporate/ commercial disputes, infrastructure contracts & construction disputes, mining rights, taxation (customs, excise, service tax, VAT, GST and direct tax), foreign contribution regulation, bank guarantee, tenders, and land laws.

Sameer frequently represents foreign governments, Global Fortune 500 companies, major Indian public sector undertakings, prominent private corporations, with clients spanning India, Russia, Israel, Japan, and numerous other countries globally.

Work Highlights

- Represented the client against whom a foreign award arising out of a SIAC Arbitration was sought to be enforced by a Singaporean entity.

- Represented an Indian Software technology listed company on a complex banking integration software and payment disputes on achieving certain pre-negotiated milestones before the DIFC-LCIA Arbitration Centre.

- Represented an Indian Manufacturing Company in their claim for supply of defective machines by a Norway company before the ICC.

- Represented a major state- owned Russian power generator in ICC arbitration.

- Advised on intricate international law issues pertaining to economic sanctions/ non-proliferation measures and legality of a ban on US procurement on the client, in connection with an alleged violation of the regime of non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction imposed by the Department of State, US.

- Represented in a multijurisdictional shareholder dispute against a Japanese company and its erstwhile Singapore subsidiary in a USD 36 million arbitration.

- Represented an Indian Joint Venture in a USD 10 million arbitration and court dispute arising out of a hydro-power plant construction agreement.

- Represented an Indian SPV in enforcement proceedings and defending an approximate INR 200 crore arbitral award arising out of an infrastructure project.
