Shane O'Reilly is a pensions lawyer based in London.
Shane has extensive experience of advising on all aspects of pensions law and advises both employers and trustees on the full range of pensions legal issues, including: drafting trust documentation; the pensions aspects of corporate transactions; pension scheme investments; and compliance with pensions regulatory and legislative regimes. Recent experience includes advising trustees and sponsoring employers on implementation of GMP equalisation, bulk transfers to DC master trusts, closing defined benefit schemes to future accrual, compliance with the evolving occupational pension scheme requirements in respect of ESG and climate change and advising trustee clients on scheme transfers out and overpayment recovery. Shane also has experience resolving disputes between trustees and scheme members both under IDRP and before the Pensions Ombudsman.
Shane is a regular speaker at client and industry seminars and is also a regular contributor to client and press publications and blog posts. Shane is also a regular speaker at the annual TISA Retirement Conference having recently spoken on the ESG and TCFD framework as well as trustee transfer-out obligations. Shane is a member of the APL E&S Committee and is responsible for organising the APL's Annual Conference 2022.
