Tom is co-head of Hunton Andrews Kurth’s Corporate Team and has served on the firm’s executive committee. In his capacity as Corporate Team head, he has oversight over capital markets, private equity, M&A, REITs and other practice areas. He is a versatile lawyer with broad corporate finance experience, having represented financial institutions for over 30 years in structured finance, asset-based finance, secured lending, acquisition financing, risk transfer, private equity investments in financial and real estate assets, and asset securitization transactions.
Tom’s career has been highlighted by innovative transactions and esoteric and novel asset-based financings based in a deep-rooted background in the fundamentals of traditional structured finance, capital markets, and real estate finance and asset securitization. Tom frequently works side by side with lawyers from our M&A, business lending, funds, tax and bankruptcy/restructuring teams in structuring and executing transactions, providing clients with a comprehensive approach to their structured finance transactions in a complex and constantly changing market. In recent years, Tom has emerged as a notable figure in mortgage servicing investments and financing. In the last decade, he has led over 100 transactions for investments in and financing of servicing-related assets, including the development and implementation of groundbreaking structures.
