TIM TREANOR, global co-leader of Sidley Austin’s White Collar Criminal Defense and Investigations practice group, is a former federal prosecutor who brings a practical, problem-solving approach and more than twenty-five years of experience as a criminal practitioner to representing companies and individuals in investigations, enforcement actions and prosecutions conducted by various federal and state government agencies, including the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and other financial industry regulators. Corporate clients he represents comprise of leading companies in a variety of industries, including financial services, pharmaceuticals, insurance, oil and energy and technology. Tim frequently manages global investigations and parallel criminal and civil proceedings involving enforcement agencies in multiple countries and has negotiated for clients numerous favorable dispositions with a range of government agencies. Tim also advises companies on the development of internal compliance programs and provides compliance counseling on a host of criminal issues, including anti-money laundering (BSA/AML), the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), and other issues often with financial industry or national security implications.
