Practice Areas

Tobias is a widely-recognised and leading intellectual property litigator, especially in the fields of trademark, design, trade secrets and copyright law. He advises multinationals and foreign counsel on IP issues in the Netherlands/Benelux and in the EU, in particular on international litigation and resolution strategies. Tobias is a renowned litigator, appearing before all national courts, as well as EUIPO and the EU Court of Justice.

He has been involved in most of the landmark IP decisions of the Dutch Supreme Court (including its references to the ECJ) in the past five years.

Partner since 2001.

Publications

Tobias is co-author of the leading industry handbook series "Industriële Eigendom" (3 volumes), and "The relationship between national and community trademark law", 2011.

Personal

Tobias has been a professor of IP Law at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam since 2007.

He is also admitted to the Supreme Court Bar.
