Tom Cochrane

Practice Areas

Tom Cochrane is a partner in the firm's Funds and Corporate Groups in Dubai where he has been based since 2012. He assists clients on matters of Cayman Islands and British Virgin Islands (BVI) law.

Tom's primary focus is on investment funds (including hedge funds, venture capital funds and private equity funds). He regularly acts for leading sovereign wealth funds, financial institutions, asset managers and private equity firms on the structuring and formation of funds. Tom also has significant corporate and commercial experience, including advising on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, preference share issues and other corporate transactions.

Tom is also a member of the firm's Finance Group, and has significant experience advising borrowers and lenders on a broad range of finance transactions.

Career

Prior to joining Walkers in January 2012, Tom worked from 2007-2011 in the banking and projects department of Freehills (now Herbert Smith Freehills) in Perth, Australia. At Freehills, Tom advised on a broad range of finance matters, including acting for borrowers and lenders on resources-based project finance transactions and property finance transactions, and establishing working capital and general corporate facilities.
