Ton Artz (partner) specialises in Life Sciences & Healthcare, IP, Unfair Competition & Advertising, both contentious and non-contentious. His practice covers pharmaceuticals, medical devices, biotech, food, cosmetics. He advises in mandates ranging from promotion, marketing and sales (including procurement procedures and contracting), the regulatory status of borderline products, reimbursement and IP disputes, to (general) contractual issues. Over the years, Ton has built long-standing relationships with several leading international companies in the pharmaceutical and food industries, as well as in the home & personal care industries.

Ton is one of the most experienced lawyers in the Netherlands in the field of advertising (pharmaceuticals, food, medical devices) and regulatory compliance and enforcement actions in the life science sector by competent authorities. He has an excellent track record with regulatory authorities such as the Dutch Health and Youth Care Inspectorate (IGJ), the Netherlands Food and Product Safety Authority (NVWA), as well as with self-regulatory bodies such as the CGR (Foundation for the Code for Pharmaceutical Advertising) and the Advertising Code Committee (RCC).

Career

Ton graduated cum laude from Nijmegen University in 1994. From 1995 to 2001 he worked for NautaDutilh. In 2001 Ton was one of the co-founders of Leijnse Artz.

Professional Memberships

Ton is a deputy judge at the Amsterdam Court of Appeal. Ton is former member of the board of the Dutch Advertising Law Association VvRr (2016 - 2021) and co-founder/former member of the board of the Dutch Pharmaceutical Law Association VFenR (2005 - 2007).
