Practice Areas

Will Young practices in personal injury, clinical negligence and employment.

He has particular interest and expertise in high value quantum matters. He was junior counsel for the Claimant in: the claim involving the highest ever award of damages in a UK Employment Tribunal discrimination case (AB v RBS [2021] – £4.7m damages); and what is understood to be the largest periodical payment award in a UK personal injury claim (LXD v Roscoe [2024], £1.1m annual periodical payment).

His personal injury practice increasingly consists of serious and/or catastrophic injury cases involving brain, spinal and amputation injury cases. He has been sole counsel in a wide range of multi-track personal injury actions, in the County Court and High Court. He has a particular interest in industrial disease claims, equine injury claims, and PI claims with a cross-border aspect to them.

His clinical negligence practice includes cauda equina/surgical negligence spinal injury cases and birth injury cases, as well as delayed diagnosis. Will acts as sole counsel and as a junior in higher value and more complex cases. He also appears at inquests, particularly where there is a potential clinical negligence issue, acting for both families and NHS Trusts.

Within the employment sphere Will has a particular interest in claims involving psychiatric injury (which is complemented by his PI practice). He has acted in numerous cases involving claims of significant psychiatric injury caused by discrimination or detrimental treatment at work. Will’s employment claims are often very high value, including two recent settlements for £multiple-millions.
