Career

Woochul Hwang is a senior foreign attorney and an international arbitration specialist in complex, high-value disputes arising from commercial and investment transactions, notably post-M&A, joint venture, and shareholder disputes. He also advises on multinational clients’ cross-border litigations and regulatory investigations relating to anti-corruption, competition, and privacy. Ranked as a leading individual in key legal directories, prior to joining Kim & Chang (2020-Present) he assisted the academic research and arbitration practice of renowned international arbitrator Professor William W. “Rusty” Park of Boston University School of Law (2007-2011) and then was as a key member and partner of Bae, Kim & Lee’s international arbitration/litigation team (2011-2020). He co-authored the first English treatise on international arbitration in Korea and its Korean counterpart. Educated at the American International School of Guatemala from the age of six through high school, he has a multicultural intuition and is trilingual, commanding native proficiency in Korean, English and Spanish.
