Monica Song is the national co-leader of Dentons Canada’s Regulatory group. Monica is a senior administrative and public policy lawyer with a deep understanding of the Canadian legislative and public policy landscape who specializes in advising clients spearheading growth and innovation in the digital economy.

Parlaying decades of experience as a leading lawyer in her field, Monica oversees skilled multi-jurisdictional and multi-faceted teams that provide tailored strategic advice to clients on a broad range of issues, including issues specific to the technology, media, and telecom (TMT) sectors; competition and market entry; cybersecurity, privacy, and data protection; and regulations designed to protect and promote human health and safety. She and the teams that she leads routinely advise wireline and wireless network operators, Internet service providers (ISPs) and resellers, conventional and digital media undertaking, global players in the space and satellite (including earth observation and remote sensing) sector, online apps and cloud-based network and service providers, the device manufacturing industry. and global players in the food, medical device, natural health product, cosmetics and consumer product manufacturing and retailing industries.

Monica combines expertise in her chosen areas of practice and her understanding of the public policy context in Canada with dispute resolution experience to advocate effectively and in the appropriate fora on behalf of the firm’s clients. She has appeared before the Ontario Superior Court, the Divisional Court, the Court of Appeal for Ontario, the Ontario Provincial Court, the Federal Court, and the Federal Court of Appeal in both civil and administrative law proceedings. Her work before a host of statutory boards and tribunals has included appearances before the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal, the Ontario Energy Board, the Canadian Human Rights Commission, and the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal, and many others.
