Yida is Herbert Smith Freehills' energy Of Counsel with extensive experience in a wide range of international energy projects and M&As in the energy industry, including concession agreements, joint ventures, development of projects, commercial agreements in commodities trading and services agreement. He has also extensively advised on project documents and long-term supply contracts for LNG, construction, power and renewables. Yida's experience of China business is highly valued by Chinese SOEs and international clients investing in the country.

Work Highlights

- CNOOC on its purchase of 3.6 mtpa of LNG from BG and its acquisition of a 5% upstream and 10% midstream interest in the Queensland Curtis coal bed methane LNG project in Australia including the development and negotiation of the gas sales, processing, common facilities and operating agreements and the LNG SPA for FOB sales

- United Photovoltaics Group Limited (a subsidiary of China Merchants New Energy Group) on the acquisition of six solar farms in the United Kingdom. The solar farms are located in the UK counties of Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire and Cumbria and have a combined capacity of about 82.4mw

- Genus PLC on refinancing arrangements, including obtaining approval from the State Administration of Foreign Exchange in China for cross-border parent company guarantee
