4 Stone Buildings has consistently been ranked as one of the top sets at the Bar in our core areas of expertise – arbitration, banking and finance, commercial litigation, commercial chancery, company law, civil fraud, financial services, insolvency and offshore. Since few business disputes or problems lend themselves to rigid categorisation, we apply our core areas of expertise in a wide variety of different legal and commercial contexts. Members of Chambers are just as likely to appear in the Commercial Court as in the Chancery Division, and we are also instructed internationally before arbitral tribunals and overseas courts, particularly in the Caribbean, the Middle East, the Channel Islands and Asia. Apart from our commercial clientele, we also have a strong regulatory tradition in the commercial and financial sectors. Chambers and individual members are frequent nominees and winners at the Chambers UK Bar Awards and the Legal 500 Bar Awards.
About: Chambers currently consists of 39 members, including nine silks. Seven members are currently on the Treasury Panel. Six members are appointed to sit as Deputy Judges of the High Court. One silk is Attorney General to the Prince of Wales. Chambers belong to the Commercial Bar Association and the Chancery Bar Association.
International: 4 Stone Buildings has a strong reputation for conducting both contentious and advisory work in various offshore jurisdictions, frequently dealing with the unique issues which arise in cross-border litigation. Our members have appeared in some of the most influential cases in the offshore jurisdictions in which we operate. Members of 4 Stone Buildings have extensive experience across the entire range of our practice areas and at all levels of seniority. We recognise that our clients are best served by counsel that can operate seamlessly between multiple jurisdictions, with the ability to advise rapidly and comprehensively.
Recruitment: 4 Stone Buildings’ policy is to seek to have up to two pupils each year and to recruit each of those pupils that meet the required standard. Prospective applicants for pupillage will find further information including details of chambers’ awards on our website here. Mini-pupillages are encouraged.
