Corporate:
The Corporate team has considerable experience in working on a broad range of high-profile GCC based and international, cross-border transactions. Its lawyers are highly skilled and experienced at handling the broad range of corporate and commercial issues which could arise on such transactions. It works on all levels of the M&A spectrum, including due diligence and deal sourcing and structuring. The Corporate Group advises clients on matters including Venture Capital and Private Equity; Joint Ventures and Strategic Alliances; Restructurings and Reorganizations; and Corporate Governance.
Arbitration & Litigation:
HLG has handled major international commercial disputes on behalf of foreign and local clients. HLG is able to direct and coordinate litigation, defense and resolution strategies on various corporate and commercial disputes at all levels of litigation and Arbitration.
In addition, HLG has also developed an expertise in international arbitration and procedures including the commencement, prosecution, and defense of legal actions. This includes arbitration in Kuwait, DIFC, LCIA, HKIAC and ICC.
Project Development & Finance:
HLG prides itself of being at the forefront of law firms in the region advising on multiple PPP/PFI projects across diverse sectors, including power, electricity, water, construction, education, and transportation. Having acted on behalf of the State of Kuwait Authority for Partnership Projects ("KAPP") for several years, HLG has gained expertise in all forms of PPP/PFI transactions and agreements. HLG worked closely with all major international legal and financial advisors, investors, and financial institutions involved in the PPP/PFI projects in Kuwait, Oman and Jordan.
Islamic Banking & Finance:
The firm's lawyers have experience including working on some of the first Islamic finance transactions by major institutions in the City of London (dating back to early 1990s) and being involved in many ground-breaking Islamic finance projects emanating from the GCC and worldwide. This includes the structuring, drafting, negotiating and advising on countless Islamic financing transactions for Governments, Islamic banks and financial institutions, investment funds (including sovereign wealth funds) and HNW individuals.
