Most recently, Harper Meyer has made a concerted effort to expand Korea’s connections to Miami. Harper Meyer works with the finest and most prestigious law firms in the hemisphere and are able to identify the right lawyer in each country depending on the particular project under consideration. Harper Meyer's history is rich with legendary professional figures, great successes, and a number of renown and globally significant clientele which our strong sense of discretion and high ethical standards do not allow us to share. The firm was founded by three friends and lawyers, George Harper, James Meyer and Manuel Perez in 2002. Their primary motivation was the creation of a high quality, personally attentive firm catering to the highest caliber of clientele in the areas of international private wealth, corporate, commercial and finance. The practice of which would mirror the international business and personality profile of Miami. Thus, while the roots of the firm were firmly planted in South Florida, their practice – like the geographical extent of the South Florida economy – knew no boundaries. Shortly thereafter, Harper Meyer and Perez were joined by Steven Hagen, Ronald Albert and Michael Dribin, all partners from Big Law and well-known and very respected in their fields - Steve Hagen in International Tax, Ron Albert in Corporate/Commercial and Michael Dribin in Estate Planning and Probate. Katie DeLuca joined several years after as a first-year associate until she was eventually promoted to equity partner in 2017, specializing in aviation .Since then, as the firm grew by adding Partners including Andrea Villa (Aviation), Jeffrey Hagen (Tax), Nicole Baudini (Private International Wealth) and Otavio Carneiro (Corporate/Commercial/Brazil). The firm also expanded its practice into areas such as immigration, trusts, art law, commercial litigation and arbitration, adding Partners Jacqueline Villalba, Rose Parish Ramon, Laura Reich, and Clarissa Rodriguez. Most of the Partners have had extensive experience at large, multi-office, multi-national law firms, such as Holland & Knight, Greenberg Traurig, Akerman, White & Case, Steel Hector (merged into Squire Patton), and Broad & Cassel (merged into Nelson Mullins). In 2017, local legal legend George Harper, sadly passed away. However, his mentor, Burton Landy, remains with the firm. Burt is often referred to in the legal community as the Dean of International Law and the Father of International Arbitration in Miami.
Harper Meyer was founded on the premise that a smaller, more close-knit firm, composed of highly-credentialed lawyers would be able to offer more attentive, first-class legal services at more reasonable rates without compromising on quality. The steady growth of the firm since its founding in 2002 appears to have validated their belief. Many of the firm's clients have been with the firm's Partners in excess of 40 years, and several for as long as 50 years.
