Main Areas of Practice:
- High Net Worth Divorce: Zashin Law is experienced in handling high net worth clients and complex martial estates, including business valuation issues, intergenerational wealth and trust issues, and different forms of executive compensation. In representing high net worth clients, Zashin Law attorneys work collaboratively with other professionals--financial advisors, trust and estate attorneys, corporate counsel--to craft comprehensive strategies and to ensure their client has a full understanding of his/her options and their consequences. By engaging with these other professionals, Zashin Law attorneys seek creative solutions that protect wealth or pass it on to future generations.
- Property Division: When dealing with complex marital estates, Zashin Law attorneys understand challenging valuation issues, including private and/or highly illiquid investments and executive or deferred compensation. Zashin Law also works closely with experts to trace separate property
- Alterative Dispute Resolution Processes: Zashin Law regularly engage in alternative dispute resolution processes, including arbitration, cooperative divorce (sometimes called a hybrid med-arb approach), facilitation and mediation. Many of Zashin Law's high net worth clients embrace the benefits of alternative dispute resolution processes, electing a more streamlined process that is private, efficient, and often more sophisticated. These processes foster creative solutions for resolution and outcomes tailored to their client's goals. While Zashin Law does not shy away from litigation, its attorneys are highly skilled in navigating ADR processes.
- International Family Law: Zashin Law attorneys represent clients and consult/advice on international family law matters, including custody (see below) but also property division and implementation/enforcement of foreign orders. Zashin Law has successfully enforced foreign orders to divide property in the United States as well as collaborated with international co-counsel to address international assets for clients in the United States.
- Child Custody, International and Domestic: Zashin Law attorneys have represented clients in two United States Supreme Court cases involving the 1980 Hague Convention on the International Aspects of Child Abduction, working with the rest of the legal team in cases interpreting the international treaty.
