Practice Areas
Preeminent practice in commercial and intellectual property litigation and alternative dispute resolution, including arbitration, mediation, and conciliation. Mr. Doulah was a member of the D&D team that acted as local legal counsel in the Financial Sector Reform Project in Bangladesh to reform the institutional and regulatory ecosystem of the financial sector of Bangladesh.
Specialises in foreign judgement and arbitral award enforcement in Bangladesh courts. So far, enforced twenty-seven foreign judgments. Recent achievements include winning a lawsuit for Stevedoring Services of America on a private port dispute. Recently acted in two ICC arbitrations for Gulf Air. Other major clients include Microsoft, Saipem, China Harbour, etc. He also has specialised practice on documentary credit-related disputes and settlements, acting for a large number of financial institutions. Also acted in the two largest anti-dumping suits in the USA for catfish and shrimp.
Recent reported cases in the fields of intellectual property include granting parallel import the status of "Usage" in determining the valid use of trademarks in Bangladesh jurisdiction. Acted in anti-dumping suits before United States courts for anti-dumping evaluation of imports of catfish and shrimp in the United States. Currently representing the Industrial & Commercial Bank of China in a large-value dispute in Bangladesh courts.
