Andrew Taggart

Practice Areas

Andrew is senior partner in the employment group based in London. He has more than 25 years of experience advising employers in various business sectors on complex and important employment issues. Andrew has represented clients in contentious matters in the High Court, the Court of Appeal, the Supreme Court and the Court of Justice of the European Union as well as in the Employment Tribunal and the Employment Appeal Tribunal and in overseas proceedings.

Andrew advises employers on industrial disputes and negotiations with trade unions and other employee representative bodies. He has extensive experience of corporate transactions, including those with an insolvency angle. He is regularly involved in board-level reorganisations, corporate governance matters and internal investigations, in particular in financial services and other regulated sectors.

Career

Andrew qualified as a solicitor in 1995. He joined Herbert Smith Freehills in 2004 and became a partner in 2006.

Andrew co-authored a chapter on Employment class actions to 'Class Actions in England & Wales' (Sweet & Maxwell), as well as other publications including the United Kingdom section of the European employment law textbook Arbeitsrecht in Europa" and the "Directors as Employees" chapter of the ICSA Guide for Directors.
