Head of the Marine Litigation Department and Managing Partner of firm between 2008 and 2020. Qualified in 1986 and joined HFW in London. In 1991 she moved to Chaffe Mcall Phillips Toler and Sarpy in New Orleans returning to Malta in 1992. She has practiced maritime law exclusively, dealing with a cross-section of disputes ranging from ship building contracts to collisions. She lectures extensively on the subject in Malta and abroad and is the President of the Malta Maritime Law Association. She is a Board member of the Malta Maritime Forum and Council Member of the European Maritime Law Organisation. In 2015 and 2017 she was awarded Best in Shipping Law at the European Women in Business Law Awards in London. She was elected to the executive committee of the Comite Maritime International (CMI) in 2014 and Vice-President in 2018. She is chief co-ordinator for CMI at UNCITRAL Working Group V1 working on a draft convention on the international effects of judicial sale of ships. She regularly acts for the major maritime service providers in Malta and the largest shipping lines world-wide. She is the Malta legal correspondent for the West of England, Steamship Mutual and the American Club.
