Asha is a commercial litigation partner in Reed Smith’s Hong Kong office. She has extensive experience in a wide range of company-related and contractual disputes. These include shareholders and boardroom disputes, bankruptcy and winding up, minority shareholder's petitions, employment and labour disputes, recovery of debt, banking related issues, real estate disputes, handling claims to the Equal Opportunities Commission and the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data.
She handles complex and substantial claims involving loans, convertible bonds and other financing instruments, and highly contested enforcement actions involving appointment of receivers and sale of secured assets. She advises on compulsory and voluntary liquidations, debt restructuring and schemes of arrangement. Her practice also includes arbitration, agency disputes, immigration, medical negligence, professional indemnity and insurance.
She advises on investigations by the Commercial Crime Bureau and the Independent Commissioner Against Corruption, compliance and regulatory matters involving the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, Securities and Futures Commission and the Insurance Authority.
Asha had 10 years of practical court experience working in the Supreme Court of Hong Kong prior to joining Reed Smith in 1991.
She is a qualified solicitor in Hong Kong and in England and Wales, and also a Legal Executive in Hong Kong.
