Barnaby is a leading Junior who specialises in POCA work, Regulatory work, and White-Collar Crime.
He has a range of experience in international asset recovery, POCA, financial crime, environmental crime, private prosecutions, and professional discipline law, particularly in healthcare, accountancy, and sports law. He is frequently instructed as a leading Junior or alone.
Barnaby's international asset recovery and financial crime practice includes: corruption, money laundering, and fraud involving multi-jurisdictional assets and offences, often involving the recovery of the proceeds of these offences.
He is regularly instructed in all types of POCA work, domestically and internationally. This includes Confiscation work and civil-based POCA orders. He has extensive experience working in a variety of jurisdictions and was seconded to the CPS in 2014 for 18 months working in the Caribbean. He recently appeared in R v Luxton [2024] EWCA Crim 340 in the Court of Appeal having been instructed throughout the proceedings.
He was instructed on the first successful Account Freezing and Forfeiture Order in 2018 and is now a leading authority on the area instructed in multiple million-pound cases. He was counsel for the SFO in their first contested Account Forfeiture Order. He is regularly instructed in matters that deal with Cryptocurrency and has extensive experience dealing with them in POCA related cases.
He also undertakes extensive work for third parties under section 10A of POCA, in Enforcement Receiver applications and in Civil Recovery cases.
