Brenda is a Partner in the commercial Law and Intellectual Property Law Department of the firm.

She provides comprehensive trade mark advisory across Africa and assists clients in growing and defending their trade mark portfolios. She also handles trade mark oppositions and expungements, offers advisory on trade mark strategy, filing and defending trade mark infringement suits, passing off suits, domain name disputes and general trade mark portfolio management.

Brenda also provides advice on drafting and negotiating contracts involving IP assignments, licensing, technology transfer and IP Advisory in mergers and acquisitions.

Her practice includes evaluating potential litigation risks; collaborating with corporate departments to review and advise on litigation strategies; developing solutions and litigation strategies; handling and monitoring a variety of complex litigation matters; and representing plaintiffs and defendants in IP litigation across Africa.

Brenda is a specialist in data protection and privacy and forms part of the team that advises a broad portfolio of global clients. Through her depth of experience and international perspective, she is able to provide a pragmatic, solutions-focused and efficient approach in this increasingly important area. She has vast experience in anti-counterfeiting matters, particularly management of custom recordals and organizing and conducting of anti-counterfeit surveys and raids in association with the police and customs officers.
