Mr. Paulsen co-chair of Seward & Kissel's Litigation Group. Bruce specializes in complex disputes, with a focus on commercial, maritime, trade and securities matters. He has substantial expertise in international trade sanctions and has been deeply involved in handling piracy issues.

Mr. Paulsen is a member of the American Bar Association, the International Bar Association, and is a Proctor member of the Maritime Law Association. He is a member of the faculty of the Tulane Admiralty Law Institute, the Practicing Law Institute and the Regulatory Compliance Association.

Mr. Paulsen has written and lectured frequently on litigation, arbitration, bankruptcy, piracy and sanctions issues. He co-authored a chapter for the Chambers USA Shipping 2020 Guide, and a chapter in the 2019 edition of The Legal 500: Shipping Country Comparative Guide titled, "United States: Shipping."
