Co-chairs Smith Anderson's Environmental and Energy Practice Groups. With over 30 years of experience, his practice focuses on environmental, energy and land use law, including regulatory compliance, permitting, risk management, contract issues, due diligence and environmental audits, contaminated property transfers, site remediation and redevelopment, defense of agency enforcement actions and private party claims. His energy practice includes complex electric public utility property and infrastructure transactions, tower and wireless telecommunications projects, solar generating facility project acquisitions and development, and other renewable energy projects.
Joined Smith Anderson in 1998 and became partner in 2004. Assistant Attorney General, North Carolina Department of Justice Environmental Division (1992-1998). Honors include: The Best Lawyers in America - Environmental Law (2011-2022) and "Lawyer of the Year," Raleigh Environmental Law (2021); Business North Carolina Legal Elite - Environmental (2015); and Martindale-Hubbell AV Rated.
