Practice involves complex litigation in competition, IP, commercial and regulatory disputes. Lead defence counsel in over 70 competition, consumer, securities, privacy and product liability class actions, including over 50 competition cases involving matters such as sub-sovereign agency bonds, online advertising, credit cards, Gmail, auto parts, e-books, tech components, DRAM, chemicals and vitamins. Matters at the Competition Tribunal include cartels, unilateral conduct, mergers and misleading advertising. Advised Competition Bureau on proposed Google/Yahoo! tie-up and BHP Billiton/Potash transaction. Represents broadcasters, cable networks, online music and movie/TV streaming services and social media sites in copyright rate litigation, with 30+ fully litigated rate hearings.
