Dorien Verhulst specialises in information law, with a focus on media, privacy and digital copyright law. She handles cases about intermediary liability, commercial re-use of information, notice & take down, the disclosure of user data and ‘the right to be forgotten’ for a variety of internet companies and digital platforms. She also advises and litigates about reputation protection with regard to old and new media.
Dorien has specialist knowledge of the regulatory treatment of audio-visual and electronic communications services. She regularly advises about media regulation, and handles civil claims for damages as well as administrative proceedings for telecoms providers. Dorien has specific expertise on lawful interception and the data disclosure to law enforcement authorities by providers.
Career
Dorien is a partner at Brinkhof since 2021. She combines her private practice track record with in-house experience at Google’s Amsterdam office. She is a member of the Association for Media and Communications Law and the Association for Copyright Law. As a guest lecturer, Dorien teaches about ‘the right to be forgotten’, copyright & intermediary liability and lawful interception of communication services.
