Emily is Deputy Head of Family and is highly sought after and well respected for her expertise in matrimonial finance. She regularly appears in high net worth and complex cases, including against silks, involving business structures, pensions, farming assets, insolvency and bankruptcy, nuptial agreements, and trusts. Emily’s practice also encompasses property disputes between cohabitants, claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family & Dependants) Act 1975 and applications pursuant to Schedule 1 of the Children Act 1989. Emily embraces all forms of ADR and is an Arbitrator. She is regularly appointed to act as private FDR practitioner/judge and sits as an Arbitrator in financial remedy cases. As a DDJ, Emily is authorised to hear public, private children and financial remedy cases. Emily appears in cases involving serious domestic abuse, intractable hostility, parental alienation and relocation. She has conducted several lengthy and difficult fact finding hearings, including those involving allegations of coercive and controlling behaviour. Emily is a member of the editing team at Butterworths Family Law Service, Butterworths Civil Court Precedents, and is co-editor of ‘Cohabitation: Law, Practice and Precedents’. She also sits on the Editorial Board at the Financial Remedies Journal.
