Career
Frederico Bettencourt Ferreira joined Cuatrecasas in 2005 and has been a partner in the Litigation and Arbitration groups since 2018. In 2013-2014, he was a Consulting Attorney of US law firm Arent Fox, LLP and represented the Government of Timor-Leste in multiple disputes with international oil companies.
His practice focuses on in-court and out-of-court resolution of disputes, advising and representing Portuguese and foreign clients both in the pre-litigation stage and in judicial and arbitration proceedings. He has been involved, among others, in national and international disputes relating to works contracts, commercial contracts (notably distribution agreements), investment agreements, conflicts between shareholders and companies and in civil liability proceedings in sectors such as banking and finance, automotive, private equity, construction and energy.

Member of the Portuguese Bar Association. Allowed to practice in Timor-Leste. Member of the Portuguese Arbitration Association (Associação Portuguesa de Arbitragem). Member of the Spanish Club of Arbitration – CEA-40. Coordinator of the CEA-40 (Club Español de Arbitraje – CEA-40) for 2017/2018. Listed in the list of Arbitrators of the Center of Commercial Arbitration of the Instituto de Arbitragem Comercial da Associação Comercial do Porto.

He regularly publishes articles about national and international arbitration and speaks at conferences and courses on arbitration in Portugal and abroad.
