Career

With a legal career spanning over 28 years, Gopal Sreenevasan is a highly respected advocate who has made a significant impact in the field of law across multiple jurisdictions. Gopal’s expertise in complex commercial matters encompasses commercial disputes including company and securities law. He acts in disputed probate actions and trusts. He has also acted in several disputes relating to professional negligence.

Admitted to the Malaysian Bar in 1995, he is also a member of the Bars of England and Wales and Singapore, which gives his practice a jurisdictional breadth. Gopal is known to provide comprehensive guidance on matters including commercial transactions, banking, libel, aviation, administrative law, probate, and professional negligence disputes.

Gopal’s experience spans all tiers of Malaysian courts. He is known for his effective cross-examination, which a trial Judge has described as “incisive”. He prides himself on legal scholarship and places a premium on clarity in his oral and written submissions.

Gopal has provided expert evidence in international courts such as in Singapore, the British Virgin Islands, the United States, and the Privy Council in the United Kingdom.

Outside the courtroom, Gopal hosts the “Advocates The Podcast”, where he engages in interviews with leading courtroom advocates from around the world. This platform allows him to share the experiences of some of the best advocates in the world.

In addition to his legal practice, Gopal is an adjunct professor at Taylor’s University, Malaysia, where he teaches law and shares his experience with aspiring lawyers.

Gopal is a host of a popular podcast series out of Malaysia called Advocates the Podcast. It was developed by Gopal and his colleagues, Razlan and Michelle. As lifelong students of advocacy, they set out to speak to the best advocates around the world and share their knowledge. Together, they have interviewed many accomplished guests including Lord Jonathan Sumption, Lady Hale, Lord Pannick KC, Jonathan Crow KC, Alan Dershowitz, and Geoff Budlender SC. The podcast is available on all major platforms.

Gopal also started a new association called the Endeavour Advocacy Project with the objective of developing and training the next generation of barristers/advocates.
