Guillermo Larrea leads the Compliance practice in Jones Day’s Mexico City office, with a focus on Latin America. Guillermo’s experience and highly regarded reputation is attributed to high-profile investigations, which has developed into a full Digital Compliance Practice. He has a prolific career advising Fortune 500 /100 companies concerning investigations and evaluations of international relevance related to corruption, money laundering, data management and cyber-incidents.
Guillermo’s practice covers corporate governance, anti-corruption, privacy and cybersecurity for domestic and multinational companies. He has deep experience collaborating with supervising authorities and investigating corruption allegations under Latin American national anticorruption systems and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. He advises boards of directors and audit committees regarding strategic planning, crisis management, fiduciary duties, conflicts of interest, and data preservation, and has also addressed data-driven concerns around data processing, cross border transfers of data, data breach incident-response, cloud computing, the development of digital platforms for e-commerce, and the development of technologies such as IoT, FinTech, blockchain, and cryptocurrencies, with emphasis on their security and compliance obligations.
