Guillermo gets the deals closed.
He is a capital markets and finance lawyer through and through. He started working for clients in the financial industry even before opening his own savings account.
Clients reach out to Guillermo when they are looking for an experienced, reliable lawyer that anticipates their needs and communicates well.
Guillermo always finds a way to participate in the most relevant and innovative transactions. He has the privilege to advise some of the largest and finest companies in Mexico, including Arca Continental, El Puerto de Liverpool, Grupo Bimbo, Kimberly-Clark and Grupo Mexico Transportes. On the bank side, he represents all the first-tier banks doing business in Mexico.
Guillermo is passionate about cultural expressions and diversity issues. As part of his pro bono efforts, he works with Alondra de la Parra and Natalia Lafourcade in projects for the promotion of Mexican music. He is also an active member of the Firm’s Diversity Committee.
Guillermo is an innate teacher, both within the office and in academic circles. He regularly mentors young lawyers through the mentoring programs of the Firm and of Abogadas MX. He lectures at the Escuela Libre de Derecho and at the Universidad Panamericana and regularly publishes articles related to banking and finance issues.
He obtained his law degree from the Escuela Libre de Derecho in Mexico City, and a few years later, his Master of Laws Degree from Duke University School of Law where he became a Blue Devil for life.
He spent a year as a foreign associate at Davis Polk & Wardwell in New York City, where he developed several other skills, mostly skateboarding and roller-blading.
Perhaps because of his longevity in the market, Guillermo is recognized by several publications, including Chambers and Partners, that state “he has participated in the main transactions in Mexico and enjoys a lot of admiration among his clients and is a very reliable and business-oriented lawyer”.
